Fighting Counterfeiters on Amazon!
My name is Don Myers. I’m an artist, designer and small business owner. I’m also the last man standing at my company T-Shirt Bordello.
Amazon’s copyright and trademark theft has decimated my business and thousands of other small businesses like mine. Until two years ago I had six employees working for me and we had a good thing going. Now I am the last employee of my company. Here’s what’s happened.
Amazon’s new “Open Market” policy has spawned a plague of Chinese counterfeiters and turned the Amazon marketplace into an online flea market. Amazon does not respect copyright, trademark or patent law. Amazon says they do not have the resources or systems in place to prevent the sales of fake goods in their market place. Amazon does not respect copyright, trademark or patent law. This policy steals from designers, creators and entrepreneurs like myself.
Now the big question. Do we continue to reward bad behavior? Do we want the work of our best minds to be stolen and sold to the lowest bidder? Do we want every song, every movie, every machine or molecule ever created to be stolen to be be stolen and sold back to us? If you buy or sell online you are already in this fight. The only decision is what you will do about it.
I am asking for your help. Please do what you can. Donate, buy a shirt, share this page and please avoid
